OBJECTIVES

As trade and investment linkages continue to grow, it will be important for the two regions to forge and deepen cooperation on a broader set of issues. Globalization has been characterized by changes in demography and technology that have societal impacts in both developed and developing countries. Global transformation has enriched the powerful North and at the same time impoverished and marginalized the poor South. Responding to global economic pressures and environmental challenges, it is more important than ever to develop a closer collaboration between members of ASEAN and Latin American countries.

The concept of inclusive development emphasizes the social, ecological and political dimensions of development. LASA 6 is an inclusive development agenda as a result of this global transformation that challenges the effort to ensure quality global and regional growth. As a platform that participates in interregional links and knowledge transfer between the two regions in order to maximize synergies, LASA 6 aims to promote inclusive, sustainable, balanced and secure growth through accelerated regional integration.
